I had read Oryx and Crake and hadn't loved it. Parable of the Sower By: Octavia E. She is one of the greatest word people of our generation. Brilliantly conceived and executed, wit and astute perception.
This was even better than Oryx and Crake. The Republic of Gilead offers Offred only one function: to breed! Great novel. Atwood has always been great at problematising the relationships between religion, and this could be the real triumph of the book.
